We are most grateful to Moray Council, HIE Moray and HLF for their generous grants which have allowed the first phase of the work at the Abbey to be completed.

Conservation work has been carried out on the main structure by Laing Traditional Masonry, replacing old and inappropriate cement with lime mortar and making loose stones safe.  They have also exposed the original column bases which have been pointed with lime mortar.

We were honoured by a visit from the Princess Royal on Tuesday, September 30th 2008.  She spent an hour inspecting the conservation work, viewing the interpretation panels and speaking to the grant givers, the architects and contractors and the trustees.
